Valparaiso High School Students Earn National Merit Recognition
Valparaiso High School proudly recognizes the following students for their outstanding academic achievement:
National Merit Semifinalists: Desmond Calhoun, Parker Frailey, Jonathan Malchow, Keira Murphy, Wes Unzicker, Elizabeth Vatthauer, and Clara Warren
Commended Students: Ben Barriball, Kaenen Bartley, and Vincent LaFollette
These students have earned distinction in the National Merit Scholarship Program based on their exceptional PSAT performance. Semifinalists represent the highest scorers in each state, less than one percent of high school seniors nationwide, while Commended Students are also recognized for their exceptional academic performance.
This year, seven Valparaiso High School students have been named National Merit Semifinalists, the highest number among schools in the Duneland Athletic Conference (DAC). VHS also tied Munster and Homestead in Fort Wayne for the eighth highest number of Semifinalists in the state among both public and private schools. In addition, along with Munster, VHS outperformed every other school, public or private, in Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper, Starke, and Marshall counties.
Valparaiso High School is proud to honor the dedication, talent, and hard work of these exceptional students.
