Curriculum

The curriculum at Valparaiso High School is extensive and offers a wide range of course work providing a variety of opportunities to pursue individual interests beyond the courses required for graduation. The course experiences range from intensely intellectual challenges that have earned "honors" distinction, to activity-based, practical courses in life skills for independent living, child development, and parenting. Requirements range from public speaking, to life-long awareness of health and fitness practices, to the science and math areas for understanding the integrated nature of our world, to the responsibilities of the global society and citizenship. Providing distinct levels of courses and corresponding methodologies allows the student to select the level of challenge desired in a course.

The VHS curriculum strives to contribute to each student's intellectual, social, vocational, artistic, and expressive growth. The choice to participate, to develop full potential, remains, as is appropriate, with each student.
